2015 Chesapeake Bay Bridge Run

The Bay Bridge run is a 5 part series and has inter-locking medals.  2 down and 3 to go!!!  Same as last year, it's a fantastic event.  Incredible post-run party and entertainment for a few hours after the run.  This was the first road trip for my new Countryman!

I stayed in an AirBnB for Saturday night with 5 other elite runners.  Best part was the fire pit for Saturday night.  Had a fantastic dinner at the Double T Diner (breakfast for dinner), then back to house for a few beers around the fire.  Note to self:  3 beers is plenty the night before a race.

The accommodations were pretty good.   The garage was a converted party room that I wish we could have hung out in longer.  A drum set for Hunter and an Ibanez for me ... we jammed for about 30 seconds.  There as a rabbit named Oreo in the yard along with a blind dog.

Most bands start in someone's garage
Here's a good looking elite running crew.  A little dark, but that's Aaron, Bursch, me, Marshall, Greg and Hunter.  The worst part of this event is the 5am wake up call.  There's nothing quite like having Bursch stumble into the kitchen at 5am and tell me to get out of bed.  Yea, I was on the kitchen floor but did have a mat.

Pre-ride smiles all around as the sun came up. Again, anyone who has read one of my blogs knows I don't see sunrise often.  Greg even mentioned he thinks it's overrated ... as he sees it everyday on his commute from near West Virginia.

Hunter crushed all of us.  He's also a svelt 23 years old.  I wasn't sure what to expect from this race as my training was limited.  Courtney took second place by couple minutes, then I rolled in a mere 13 seconds ahead of Bursch.  Patty and Greg cruised in shortly thereafter.

I can't say enough about the post-ride party.  There's nothing quite like getting up at 5am, starting the run ~7:15am, finishing in one hour and then hitting the ShockTop at 8:15am.  Reminds me of old college days.  The weather was beautiful and we could have stayed there a few extra hours.

If you're reading this, then consider yourself officially invited to join us next year.  We'll all get an AirBnB and live it up a little.
